Just got back from seeing Sex and the City (shut up, it's a guilty pleasure of mine, much like Eminem's music [shut up]).

It was exactly like the TV series, which means that, for a Sex and the City movie, it was perfect. Not the best movie I've ever seen, no, but quite enjoyable nevertheless. It was also longer than a movie has any right to be. Of course, that seems to be the case with pretty much every movie I've watched in the past... 4 years? Not that 4 years' worth of movies amounts to all that many in my case.

I noticed they're still showing Iron Man in the local movie theatre. I wonder if I should go to see that, too. I'm pretty meh on the comics, but I've heard that it's a really fucking amazing movie.

ETA: Oh, yeah, also paid a visit to the local emplyment agency today, since I am now officially unemployed (at least until I find out if I got into that school). And I had to bother the folks at KELA (Social Insurance Institution) because they couldn't word their forms could any less clearly if they tried and I won't get a dime in the way of unemployment benefits unless I fill them. So I went in to have a few parts clarified for me.

OP Movie 8 capspost: Final part.

There are more images here than there were in the previous three posts. As in, where the other three had 50-60 pictures, this one has a little over 70 images.

Okay, guys, time for a series of screencap posts! From One Piece Movie 8 (a.k.a the Alabasta remake). This will be split over a number of posts to keep the amount of images in each post within some kind of limit.

First my short notes on the movie )

Then the screencaps. Be warned, it's image-heavy )

(Onwards to Part 2)

If you want a bigger version of any of these images, just ask me. And do tell me if there were too many pictures in this post.

We take a break from your regularly scheduled One Piece fangirling and RL woes to bring you my thoughts on yaoi Harry Potter and the Order of Phoenix: The Movie. a.k.a Harry Potter and the Angst a.k.a Harry Potter and the CAPSLOCK OF RAGE.

Angst and Dark Lords )

And next Saturday, I plan on cheerfully marching to the bookstore in hopes that there are still copies of Deathly Hallows left. Great thing about living in the countryside of Finland: Bookstores don't open at midnight and half of the people wanting to read the book will wait for the translated edition anyway. :D

Just saw PotC: At World's End. Wasn't a complete waste of a free ticket, and it was precisely what I expected; a visually stunning and rather amusing piece with little to give besides those two things.
Behind the cut are my spoilerous thoughts on yaoi stuff.

Spoilarz. Duh )

So. I just saw Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest.

I'm not going to lie; I went for the Depp. And the Nighy, once I found out he was in it, of course, but mainly for the Depp. Never expected it to be a decent movie, and now I'm not sure if it appearing to be fairly decent was because I had expected less or because it actually was decent.

Also, Kiera Knightley confuses me. I look at her and see a girl who isn't actually all that pretty (though not ugly, either). Then I lean back and notice that she is quite pretty. Which would make her.. pretty in a not terribly pretty way? Yeah, confused.

Well, I went to see Goblet of Fire on Saturday. I did a lot of complaining, naturally.

lj cut because it seemed appropriate )

All in all, it is the best movie of the series so far, and just because I mainly complain doesn't mean I didn't love it.

So, I went to see Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on Saturday. I must say I was rather disappointed. The entire movie seemed somewhat lacking. I don't know what it is, really, I was just.. expecting something more, I guess. I think Zaphod's heads were all wrong. Aren't they supposed to be able to look at each other? I didn't like the dolphin song, either. Made me feel like I was watching a Disney animated movie like Little Mermaid or something.

I suppose the movie was funny, though. Judging by the bursts of laughter from the row behind me, anyway. I'd already heard every funny joke, of course, since they're in the book, so they didn't catch me by surprise.

I'm only 2/3 through Life, the Universe and Everything, so of course I don't know what happens to Arthur and Trillian later on, and I don't know squat about any other version out there, but I was a bit annoyed by what happened at the end. Eh, maybe I still haven't got over the suffocating amount of romance in HBP, but why does the guy always have to get the girl, huh?

Anyway, Marvin is still lovable as always. What is there not to like about Marvin? And Alan's voice could only make it better. Bill Nighy got a private little inward squee out of me, too. Honestly, all that guy need to do is show his face and I'm already in a better mood. Marvin and Slartibartfast, they made the experience worth it.

Other things I've done lately include playing Tekken 5 to buy every single extra costume. I bought Ganryu's extra costume and it looked so stupid I thought I'd make him work to make up for the loss. In other words, I opened the Arcade mode and started going through Ganryu's move list - I can't believe I've never done that before, not even in T2 or TTT - and damned if he doesn't rock.

I returned to Finland on Sunday. It did end up being a fairly fun holiday, although it would have been far better had my four-year-old little sister not gotten carsick on the way home and thrown up on my nicer leather jacket. On the up side, I have a nice, if a very slight tan.

Moreover, Galaxy Quest has just officially become the funniest movie I've ever seen.
Well, at least it's the funniest one I can think of at the present time and therefore it qualifies for the funniest ever.

Today, I'm also suddenly down to one pair of useable trousers, one of the other two pairs being ripped at the crotch seam (They've only been useless for four months. I'll sew the seam back together someday) and the other now useless pair just came out of the wash with the zipper broken. The remaining trousers are a tad bit old and a little short. However, I still have an assortment of nice long skirts I can wear, so I should be fine for now.

Gah

That is all I can say. I'm bored out of my skull and can't figure out this Spanish keyboard I'm currently using.

I just finished the last book I had with me and all the interesting paperbacks they seem to have for sale around here are in languages I cannot understand. The first half of the week was unbelievably cold and now I've got a sunburn.

I'm not having as bad a time as I make it sound, though. I just have this tendency to only see the bad sides when something is happening and later only remember the good things. The fact remains that I would rather be home right about now.

They're also airing Galaxy Quest in Finland tonight, as though they wanted me to mss it again. It's the same channel, even. Thankfully, I do have a helpful granfather with a VCR, but it does begin to seem as though a conspiracy. I'm lucky I don't believe in conspiracies.

I'm sorry if some part of this isn't making any sense, but I'm running out of time and I'm not about to waste any more money on this.
