We think http://mipeltaja.livejournal.com/ is written by a woman (80%).

I'm oddly disappointed by this result. I didn't realize my writing style was this feminine.

Here, try playing some of these while watching it: cut because this entry got a bit long )

Okay I think that's enough OTL

Feel free to link me to more music if you find this half as hilarious as I do.

Oh god, what is this:

http://kathack.com/

I AM NEVER DOING ANYTHING PRODUCTIVE EVER AGAIN.
mipeltaja: (Pompadour: I am above you)
Oh, Internet connection, how I missed you. Come, let us kiss with tongues!

So, yeah, I'm back in the game. (literally, from the WoW point of view :D)
mipeltaja: (Oh noes!)
Aaand I'm back at my own place and still waiting for my new modem to arrive (I'm getting my internet through cable now, so my old phone line modem won't work), so still no Internet for me. :(

I guess I'll just surf in class like I'm doing now. I hope the modem arrives today or tomorrow, though. I'm in the middle of an animation course and I like to watch other people's animations for inspiration.

Man, Nick Simmons, way to fail. Next time try plagiarizing something that isn't among the most recognized anime/manga series in the west. No, wait, next time try not to plagiarize at all.

I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt in one thing, though; I don't think this guy's resemblance to Mr. 0 Sir Crocodile is intentional.

What does it say about the Internet that there is a website (probably several) that will simulate flipping a coin for you?

And what does it say about me that not only was I certain that there would be a site like that, but my first instinct was to google for it rather than pick up an actual coin and flip it?
mipeltaja: (Bonney: R U CRAZY)
You have done it, friendslist. I'm reading Axis Powers Hetalia.

Sheer laziness helped me resist for quite a while, but in the end it was futile.

I HOPE YOU'RE HAPPY NOW.
mipeltaja: (Geek)
YOU'RE ON MY F-LIST, I want to know 30 things about you. I don't care if we've never talked, never really clicked, or if we already know everything about each other. I really don't. You are obviously on my flist, so let me know with whom I'm friends with!

(You can ignore questions you don't feel like answering. Really, I won't be offended if you ignore this whole meme.)

Hi, friendslist! If you have a minute, take a look at my dragon eggs to help them grow:
http://dragcave.net/user/Mipeltaja

I'll probably fail at raising these, but in the meanwhile I'm all for new toys to help me waste my time online. :D
mipeltaja: (Oh noes!)
Guys.
Is PayPal hard to figure out? I remember almost registering once but then closing the tab in horror because I was afraid I was going to do something wrong in the account creation or something like that.
I'm... kinda paranoid when it comes to money. But I feel like I would benefit from being able to use PayPal.

...or possibly just blow all my money on eBay auctions or similar. EITHER WAY.
mipeltaja: (HEX Error)
Well, that's interesting. My computer says I have no Internet connection when I kind of obviously do.

This post has been brought to you by boredom and mild confusion.

Oi, friends, Romans, chain letter forwarders:

http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/nothing/billgate.asp

So please stop forwarding me those Bill Gates e-mails. Watch me as I do not forward that email to anyone. I promise you I will receive the exact same amount of money from Microsoft as you will.

Hint: That amount will be zilch.

I have forwarded precisely one chain letter in my life. I was nine years old. It promised me a happily ever after with Mr. Right. I suspect that promise will be fulfilled 'round the same time as Bill Gates's wad of cash arrives.

I love you guys, but please try to think for a few seconds before you forward everything you find in your inbox.

Something I've been wanting to rant about for a while:

So, one or two years ago, there was an ad campaign in the finnish women's magazine MeNaiset (the name can be translated as WeWomen or UsWomen) to raise awareness of breast cancer. The ad features a picture of a shirtless woman dressed in pirate garb and wearing a large "eyepatch" over one missing breast.

Now, when I first saw it, I thought it was creative and powerful and would make people stop and think. But get this, apparently there were people who just plain missed the point and complained about the other breast, which was bare. I saw some discussion about it on the 'net some months ago and all I could think was: "We're FINNS, for God's sake! The average woman reading this magazine is between 25 and 60 years of age and must've seen thousands of boobs belonging to other women she's never even spoken with, thanks to public saunas and whatnot. Bare nipples in women's magazines are not unheard of, and the ad was not a sexual one, so I fail to see the problem.

I'm including the picture here for those of you who are interested:

As much as I want to not cut it, I realize that not every country would consider it worksafe, especially taken out of context )

Is it Talk Like A Pirate Day? Is that why the lj user picture thingies (like in [livejournal.com profile] eyesofsue) are wearing eyepatches?

My first stop today was [livejournal.com profile] grand_line_vine so at first I thought it was a cute little trick on their part, but then I realized it was happening everywhere and OMG this is so cool.

Here, have a pirate picture I drew last year.

I bought a new folder and a new pen today. The folder is green and I have a horrible urge to draw Zoro's face on it, even though I'm not particularly fond of him. I think I have like twenty pens (and five pencils) in use now. But that's okay because I'm a crazy artistic type and need to have one or two of every kind of pen I see.
mipeltaja: (fabulous)
1. Comment here and I'll pick one of your LJ interests and draw a picture using the mighty MS Paint.
2. You have no say in what I draw for you, or in how much it will suck!
3. Put this in your journal along with the pictures people drew for you

This is what I got! )

Woe.

mipeltaja: (Oh noes!)
May this day, February 10th 2006, be marked down in the history books as the day the Internet let me down.
Granted, there was that incident with the architecture of cathedrals a few months back - in October, I think - but that was somewhat understandable.
On this day, however, I have failed to locate the lyrics to a song I had believed to be known to pretty much every Finn. Back in grades 3-6, we used to sing it all the time at school. It's a nice, patriotic song about how Finns are gutsy and I'm certain I've heard it on the radio once or twice. That is, in the times that there was other stuff on the radio than the newest singles of Britney/Robbie/Evanescence/Antti Tuisku/Nightwish/whatever.
