Jun. 15th, 2011 12:42 amThe folks at Telltale Games are evil, evil people.
That, and I'm an idiot for playing through 3 episodes of the game in one day when I should have made them last me until the 23rd, when the last episode will be released. I don't even have the excuse of being new to Telltale's shenanigans; I know they like to end the second-to-last episode of a season on an unpleasant sort of cliffhanger, and I still expected it to be all right.
Decent game, though. Not necessarily very challenging, but the story is certainly engaging.
I kind of wish I had WoW game time right now. I don't miss the game much, which is a bit of a bummer, because I do miss the guild.

Jun. 11th, 2011 11:17 pmJust finished watching the Back to the Future trilogy for the first time in I don't even know how long. All I know is we used to have all three on a single VHS cassette and I haven't seen the movies since VHS became obsolete.
So I got the DVD box and watched 'em with my sisters. :3 My youngest sister had never seen 'em before either, so I think it was high time she did.
For the record, I blame everything on Telltale Games. They're really good at reeling me in by offering free downloads of the first episode of a multi-part game, and this time it was the BTTF adventure game. =/ So I had to buy the movies and the rest of the game.
In other news, I've been painting for my exhibition in August and I hurt my right index finger yesterday, which is making life surprisingly hard.

Apr. 22nd, 2011 07:27 pmFor the past week, I've been immensely enjoying Dragon Age 2. First Dragon Age I've ever played, too, though I am considering hunting down Origins in some discount bin.
Anyway, it appears a number of things have been changed story-wise, and some fans are Not Pleased (though when is the entirety of any fanbase ever satisfied?). I've been reading about the retcons, and they don't seen all that horribly RUINED FOREVER to me. Then again, I am a Warcraft fan. The amount of retcons I've accepted between Warcraft: Orcs and Humans and WoW: Cataclysm has probably done a lot to desensitize me for such things.
Anyway, I daresay that even if I had played DA before, and even if I did find the retcons objectionable, I'd still enjoy the game. BecauseVarric's chest hair is mesmerizing the characters are so great.

Dec. 16th, 2009 11:05 pmLet it be known that Tales of Monkey Island is crack.
Sure, the quality of the writing varies (some side characters are just cheap clichés with no depth whatsoever) and it doesn't quite reach the overall brilliance of the first three games (say whatever you will about Curse. I loved it and consider it no worse than the original two), but it gives me the fix Escape just didn't quite manage to. I'm not sure how canon all of it is going to be if there's ever going to be an "actual" "Monkey Island 5", but Tales has done away with much of what made Escape feel wrong. Much like Tekken 5 took a few step back and then sideways from Tekken 4 and came out better than its predecessor.
That was my spontaneus game review. I'm gonna go play some more now.

Sep. 19th, 2009 01:20 pmAvast, me hearties! In honor of the International Talk Like a Pirate Day, Telltale Games be offerin' a free chapter of Tales of Monkey Island!
Aye, I be already downloadin' me free chapter, n' I be plannin' to spend this day playin' it. I d'not know if any of ye on me list of mateys be fans of Monkey Island, but I figured I'd give all of ye a heads up just in case. Seein' as how I pretty much suck at talking like a pirate, it be the least I can do on this fine day.
Ps. It be Yumichika's birthday as well? Mayhap the lad was a salty sea dog in life.

Aug. 8th, 2009 12:20 amI saw Prince of Egypt for the first time today, and it was amazing. Great animation, poweful scenes and amazing everything.
And I was reminded again that I want to watch every high-quality animated movie ever made. BECAUSE I'M JUST THAT INTO ANIMATION. I don't know what I'm going to do if I don't get into that school next year.
Okay, no, I know I'll be headed for the Kajak Game Development Lab, because I need to specialize, and if I can't do animation, I'll do video games, dammit!

Apr. 21st, 2009 07:21 pmSo, for my multimedia class, I am going to do a flash-based sidescrolling game. And I'm going to try and make it look wicked old school, with pixel graphics and 8-bit sounds and everything. I'm so exited~
I can't shake the feeling that I've bitten off more than I can chew, but I don't really care at this point. If the pixel graphics are too time-consuming, I'll settle for a less retro look. But I'll be damned if I'm not going to try.
Also, artdump on the way.

Nov. 12th, 2008 03:35 pmWRATH OF THE LICH KING GET! ALSO ONE PIECE SNACKS!
My WoTLK Collector's Edition arrived! The really awesome part? The release date is tomorrow. Tonight, thousands of geeks all over the world will be queuing up to get a copy at the midnight sales. I picked this up on my way home from school. The wonders of postal orders.
Also, I bought something form a Japanese eBay seller, and unbeknownst to me, he very kindly included a bag of One Piece-themed snacks in the package! They're shaped like the beli/beri/berry symbol.
( pics or it didn't happen )

Oct. 23rd, 2008 06:45 pmSo I've been staying at my parents' since Sunday, seeing as how I've got no classes or anything this week.
Their Internet connection has been wobbly for a while and died on Tuesday. I'm actually writing this post from my grandparents' place. Incidentally, my grandmother's little poodle is really starting to show his age. :( He's been prone to coughing fits after running about (which he likes to do a lot) and just today, he seemed pretty dizzy after one of those fits. He swayed and generally looked very unsteady on his legs. Poor thing.
I bought a painting easel today, after years of pining for one. Also bought Guitar Hero yesterday, because nom. I will never get anything done ever again. I always seem to end up spending more money than I'm saving (in terms of food and such) when I visit home.
Been sketching a lot in the absence of the 'net, but I think those will have to wait until I'm back at my flat, with the reliable connection and everything.
Well, I guess that's all for now. Not sure when I'll be able to get online again. Peace out.

Jul. 4th, 2008 01:03 amSo I now own Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All.
What I lack is a DS.
Oh, there is a DS I am occasionally allowed to play, but it sorta belongs to my youngest sisterand it's pink. So I've also invested in a DS of my own, the order for which was placed today. I can hardly wait!
Also: I re-read Good Omens yesterday. Only I'd forgotten just about everything, so it's almoust as though I was reading it for the first time. I have never before stayed up all night to get to the end of a book I've read before. I knew how it ended and I still couldn't put it down. I'll tell you, it didn't have as strong an impact on me back when I was thirteen, and I suspect that's because it was the Finnish translation back then. I know for a fact that Terry Pratchett's writing doesn't translate easily, and I suspect Neil Gaiman's doesn't, either.
Also Also: sketchdump on the way. Maybe tonight or tomorrow, depending on stuff.
