Well, I went to see Goblet of Fire on Saturday. I did a lot of complaining, naturally.
I have problems with Fleur. The actress is a very pretty girl, but Fleur is supposed to be a half-veela, and therefore positively stunning. And the worst part is, they could've made that girl look stunning, too, but they didn't. 'Course, the whole veela business was cut out, anyway.
Hermione's character seems a little off without her S.P.E.W. side. And what on earth was that thing she wore to the Yule Ball, huh? And whatever happened to trying to look like muggles in the quidditch World Cup? Madame Maxine's height when compared to Hagrid managed to annoy me throughout the movie, too.
There were a lot of other things I was unhappy about, including the lack of Alan in a nightshirt and the hospital wing scene from the end of the book. Also, Voldemort unmasked all the Death Eaters present at the graveyard, or that's how it seemed to me, at least. No talk about the missing deatheaters and nothing to make us ponder whether or not Sanpe was there. But there were a lot of good things about the movie, too.
For one, there was the the Ferret scene, and I loved the part where Snape whacked Harry and Ron with the book, even if it was out of character. And the part that made the whole audience snigger, when Cedric told harry to "take his egg". This is funny, because in Finnish, "egg" or "eggs" is an euphenism for penis, so in the subtitles, Cedric was basically telling Harry to go masturbate in the prefects' bathroom. Myrtle was wonderful in the bath scene, and any Alan is good Alan, after all.
And we shouldn't forget the rampant subtext, either. That made me happyin my pants. I mean, that scene where Karkaroff was showing Snape his Dark Mark? Pure slash.
All in all, it is the best movie of the series so far, and just because I mainly complain doesn't mean I didn't love it.
