OP Movie 8 screencap posts continue. I'm aiming to get this done by Sunday.
Part 1
So where were we? Oh, right:

Croc has Vivi. AND he's immune to punches.

Knowing that, this guy must be having a major brainfart. Not only is he shooting at a guy he should know can't be harmed by bullets, but he's actually shooting at a guy he should know can't be harmed by bullets but IS HOLDING A VERY VULNERABLE-TO-BULLETS PRINCESS. Geez, Pell. Did you think at all?

Well, he grabs the girl, but Robin's on it.

"Clutch."
OW THAT HAS GOT TO HURT.

Oh, well, let's check on the rebel army. They're heading toward Alubarna en masse.

Speaking of Alubarna, SOMEONE there took time to use shine conditioner on his hair this morning.
Oh, Chaka, we all know my haircare theory, and this kind of thing does not help your case. (plus, Toei? Some hair just isn't supposed to be shiny. lollerskates)

Back to the crew, Luffy has jumped down and flinged Vivi back towards the crab.

And she collides with Zoro. BTW this totally counts as an instance of Vivi violence in my book.

Luffy tells his friends to go, and so they do, while Zoro and Vivi are out cold in the corner there, AHAHJJKSAHDLKAJWEEAKkljsdflkd ♥

So begins the first Luffy/Crocodile fight.

This time it's Luffy's leg that got dried up. No idea why they changed it, but on the other hand there's no reason why they couldn't have. Eh. *shrug*

This is interesting, though. Seems like having the hook visibly go through Luffy was too gruesome or something.

Luffy is thrown into the Desert Girasole and Robin wonders about the Ds and why they continue to fight. Girl, far be it from me to tell you how to do your job, but maybe you could fish him out of there first?

Outside Alubarna, the agents are waiting.

They spot the crab on which the hooded starwhats are approaching the city.
Now, I know they were never in Rainbase, but they were in Yuba at one point. However they never cross the river. Funny, that.

And the fights begin. In case anyone is wondering; in this version Chopper and Usopp were originally together, Sanji was with Eyelash (who presumably ran away right away) and Bon Kurei never impersonated Usopp.

Oh look it's the rebels. They've reached the city. And they're attacking. Hehe Kohza's hair.

Aaand Kohza goes right past Vivi. There are a few of these pretty stills in the movie. And they're pretty.

Next we get short glimpses of everyone fighting. As a side note, Doublefinger looks mighty fine here.

Meanwhile, Sanji is wearing the Mr. Prince glasses for no apparent reason. I don't even think the whole Mr Prince business is explained in the movie at all.

And what's up with the Mr.4 pair? Well, Miss Merry Christmas is talking shit about Luffy, and Usopp is NOT. HAPPY.

Vivi, however has made it in the city, but Carue gets hit by a stray bullet.

Back to Usopp and Chopper, who have just won the fight.

And what's going on with Kohza? Well, he's in the middle of a battlefield.

Which is apparently the ideal place for him to have a little hallucination about Vivi. Creepy how he envisions the exact cloak she's wearing right now.

On Polka Street, Bon Kurei has discovered Sanji's one weakness.

But that's okay, cuz Sanji soon figures out his.

A winnar is Sanji.

Vivi has made it to the palace. And since she never sent Carue there, this is the first time Chaka hears about Crocodile's evil plan. He's also kind of reluctant to blow the palace up.

But Vivi reminds him that "a country is its people".

And she SHOVES THAT BITCH ABOUT a little bit to prove her point. :D He actually takes several steps back now, but capping that satisfactorily would require way too many screenshots.

And Chaka is so whipped that he forgets he's supposed to kneel and goes down on all fours LIKE THE DOG HE IS. THAT'S RIGHT, NOW GO MAKE HER A SAMMICH!
...Ahem. Did - did I mention I like Vivi's violent fits?

OH, but Croc won't have any of that "blowing the palace up" business.

"Oh hay, I nailed ur dad to the wall. Good Feng Shui Y/N?"

Nami is finally starting to get the hang of her new weapon. (not that she had time to have on-screen problems in the movie)

Is it just me or is Nami's WIN!still screen not as pretty/cool as the others?

This just in: Robin's hands are huge like Xbox.

Chaka doesn't agree with Croc's idea of creative Feng Shui.

Like Croc cares about what Chaka thinks. Instead, he demands to know where "Pluton" is.

Zoro's not doing all that well. Though he did get rather nice animation here. SPARKS WERE FLYING!

And he got in some some pretty sweet bleeding, too.

We all knew this was going to be Zoro's WIN!still screen. But my, that blood is very red.
I think that's a good place to end Part 2. We're pretty much exactly halfway through the movie, so all signs point to two more parts before this is done.

Date: 2007-08-03 09:03 pm (UTC)And somehow I get the feeling Vivi bitchslaps a lot of people in this movie. o__0

Date: 2007-08-03 10:18 pm (UTC)Funnily enough, it's not even like she does it more than in the manga, it's just that all of it is crammed into such short time. And obviously the fact that I draw attention to every time she does it.

Date: 2007-08-03 10:44 pm (UTC)hahahf "good feng shui y/n" cracked me up
I disliked this movie because "TATAKAI O YAMETE KUDASAI" was just so much better in the TV anime and Alegro Con Fuogo was completely missing which sucks because that song combined with the animescene makes me tear up everytime.
And ugh, they're making a Chopper movie. I'll watch it for asskicking Kureha but that is it. They'll probably remove the classic music in that too.

Date: 2007-08-03 11:16 pm (UTC)I suppose the reason I don't dislike this movie is mostly cause I never expected much of anything at all from it, except possibly some eyecandy (which it did deliver). And of course because I was overjoyed to see "new" material of the Alabasta cast.
I never.. cared for Drum Arc very much. I mean I loved Kureha, and the ending theme they used in the anime during that arc is one of my favourites, but other than that, well, yeah. Though I suppose Drum should translate into a movie much more easily than Alabasta did. For one, it's much shorter, and it doesn't kindasorta stretch over several other arcs like Alabasta does. I'm still not expecting much from it, though. Most OP movies haven't been very good.

Date: 2007-08-04 11:03 am (UTC)Movie 6 is an exception though, if not for anything else then for the insanely amazing animation. Movie 7 has the best themesong, too. They're watchable! *shrugs*
Goddamnit why can't they just animate the cover-stories though. Or make more specials like Jango's Dance Carnival! I didn't really even.. watch the Edo Period specials (hilarious screencaps with comments in capslock_op were enough lol) because they were more like filler than well animated special. Nrgh. I am picky. Buggy being a kabuki-performer was pretty amazing though.
But yeah I guess it could be good! It just won't be as sad and well done as the anime. I JUST KNOW IT. I'll gladly eat my words if it won't be the case, but, yeah. The backround music had a big effect in the scene, atleast to me. :(

Date: 2007-08-04 11:26 am (UTC)I heard somewhere that the cover story arcs they've already animated (Buggy, Cobymeppo) got bad ratings or something and that's why they don't do them for anything anymore. :( I'm not sure if it's true but if it, is, it's such a pity because I for one love the cover arcs and would've wanted to see more of them animated. But I also liked the AU specials, mostly because I love spotting side characters in AU.

Also, apart from Chaka's shiny shiny hair, his nose looks really weird there.

Either way, me and my friends lol'd for days.

Date: 2007-08-04 11:54 am (UTC)...a horrible thought just occurred to me. Doesn't Cobra look a lot like a certain CP9 member we all know and fear? Just look at the hair and the beard and the eyebrows: add one pigeon in a pimpcoat and you have Lucci. Apparently Vivi's violent tendencies are hereditary.
no subject
Date: 2007-08-04 02:24 pm (UTC)...Wait. That would make Lucci the rightful heir to Alabasta, since he's quite a bit older than Vivi. o_O
