Okay, so apparently my old Vocational School is under a threat of some kind. They found a message in the boys' bathroom that said something was going to happen on October 1st. That's tomorrow. No one I've talked to knows the details of the message, but from what I've heard, it seems that the word "bloodbath" was mentioned. Since the University of Applied Sciences that I attend is in the same campus, I'm naturally considering staying home tomorrow.
On one hand, the threat is explicitly on the Vocational, and on the other, the only cafeteria is in the main building of the Vocational School, so I can't really avoid going there.
Then again, the more I hear of this, the more it's beginning to sound like some first-year moron's* idea of a good laugh. And yet... how can you really be sure? The school's got balls, though, as they've decided not to evacuate. There will be police present, of course, and whoever wrote the message is in deep shit, whether s/he intends to follow through or not.
*most first-years in the Vocational are sixteen. Not an age group noted for thinking their actions all the way through. That's why it sounds like a first-year to me.
For those of you who don't know, there was a school shooting in Finland last week and the hysteria hasn't died down yet. That's why these kinds of messages are being taken extremely seriously right now, and why pulling these sort of pranks, if it indeed is a prank, is an exceptionally stupid thing to do. Unfortunately, it's also why some geniuses get the bright idea to make these threats in jest.

Kaiken varalta.

Date: 2008-10-01 05:56 am (UTC)A lot less bikes and a lot more cops than usual here (not that there are usually any cops). It's actually pretty cool, except for the part where they're here because some asshole decided to make threats.
