I just abruptly cut a lot of sugar and artificial sweeteners from my diet. I stopped putting sugar in my tea and quit eating sweets and drinking soft drinks. I've been having fresh fruit for snacks and I'm working on doing something about the nutritionary values of my meals.

The funny thing is that I only started on Monday and already the fruit seem to taste sweeter than they used to, and what used to be my favourite juice tastes entirely too sweet (technically I quit that juice too, but I had a carton in the fridge that needed finishing).

I'm very interested to see how this goes. I've "quit sweets" before, but never like this and never with this kind of results. So far I've had no cravings for the stuff I've cut out, either, but as I said, it's only been three days.

I've never been able to cut soda from my diet, so kudos to you for the attempt. Lately, I've been turned off the sickening sweet of cookies, and chocolates, so I've been avoiding those, and having little amounts of dark chocolate once in a while.

With my mom diabetic, we have a list of GI values of food, and some fruits have a higher rating.

Soda's been one of the few things I allowed myself when I quit sweets before, because I prefer the taste of the sugar-free versions anyway and figured since it wasn't really sugar it didn't count (not that I believe artificial sweeteners are completely unproblematic, mind you). Right now it seems like that was where I went wrong before, but it's a too early to be drawing any definite conclusions.

I've been buying soda at the shop around the corner from my University. Some days, it'll just be one can. No diet there, unfortunately. Lately, I've drinking sprites for my nausea (too much heat from the heaters sometimes make me sick).

I've tried this too, it really works as you've notived. :P I stopped the "diet" during the summer, but I seem to have lost my ability to eat tons of candy and enjoy soda for good.

That's encouraging to hear. I hope I achieve some sort of permanent change in my tastes, too. :)

I've never taken sugar in my tea and I cut pop out of my life a few years ago. I only have maybe a few pieces of chocolate once a month. I've been doing it for so, so long and it's so incredibly easy once you form a habit. Soon enough you'll never think about pop again. I can't stand it anymore, the carbonation burns my throat, lol.

It does seem a lot easier to do it this way than how I've tried to cut back on sweet things in the past. Completely giving up carbonated drinks forever would be so great.
