Saw Mamma Mia! yesterday. It was... a bizarre experience.
It is really not an intelligent movie, and I respect that it was probably never meant to be. The plot was flimsy and the characters were two-dimensional at best. Forced drama, improbable behaviour... basically a terrible story.
Some of that was made up for with the ABBA songs (I love ABBA) and a couple of genuinely funny moments. Made the movie bearable, though I'll be in no hurry to see it again.
So, in short: Not a ride you want to bring your brain along to, but not nearly as bad as it would've been without the musical aspect.
