Hello, this is a picspam post of OP episode 314. It's imageheavy LIEK WHOA.

We open with a picture from the recap. Just because Kiwi and Mozu are in it. And Sanji has a hilarious face.

Then we get a back shot of those two incredibly mysterious marines that came with Garp. WHO COULD THEY BE?

And more Kiwi and Mozu. ♥

Then Garp started owning Luffy. That man is made of concentrated win. Seriously.

Everyone's all "OMG", including Usopp, who spends the entire episode standing right there, even when the action moves outside.

Garp mentions Shanks and it's flashback time. ExcePt they didn't want to actually animate it so they used old footage. Nothing new there, I suppose.

Enter ~~Captain Sense of Direction~~ Zoro. He looks like a rockstar leaving the stage or something. All "THANK YOU! I love you!". Lol.

Then he starts killing people and everyone's all, "Oh, it's Zoro."

And the mysterious marines attack. Meanwhile, Toei animators fail at ~~Helme~~ Mysterious Marine guy #2's hair.

That guy could leap over tall buildings in a single bound. I KNOW WHO THAT IS! IT'S SUPERMAN!

OH SHI-

This looked freaking sweet in motion. But less dynamic than in the manga. Woe.
ETA: WTF WTF WTF Zoro is fighting using Wadou and Kitetsu, while what's left of Yubashiri and WHAT APPEARS TO BE ANOTHER WADOU remain sheathed.

Zoro makes his villain face. WATCH OUT SUPERMAN.

"WAIT ZORO DON'T KILL SUPERMAN"

*kicked in the faec*

Luffy tries to punch his attacker, but he teleports away.

Why so far away when he could've just teleported right behind him, I'll never know.

But it doesn't matter, because Luffy catches him anyway.

U LOSE.

"It's me, Coby!" ASLKJG WOULD YOU LOOK AT HOW TALL THE BLOND DOUCHEBAG GOT?

"REEEEAAALLY?!"

"NO WAI!"

It's flashback time again. For too long, considering that in the manga there was precisely one panel of Coby 1.0.

Compared to his flashback self, Coby looks approximately 24. :D

Then he looks slightly younger again.

While this dude looks like an alien invader.

A tall alien invader.

Moar flashback. I'm only capping these to demonstrate how much flashback there was in this episode.

Then the animators suddenly decided to animate an equivalent of that one panel in the manga, anyway, making the flashback they used in its place even more pointless.

Oh, but Helmeppo wants to be recognized, too!

He isn't, but Zoro makes an angry face when Helmeppo claims that he had the infamous pirate hunter tied to a pole once.

The art randomly turns shiny for a second. Not that I'm complaining.

And because they don't remember, we get more flashback. Again. I suppose they wanted to do everything they could to draw this out to the length of a full episode, but didn't feel like animating the entire 20 minutes.

"Oh, you're THAT douchebag. Right."

In terms of voice acting, this part was easily my favourite. I'm serious, you need to hear it. I'm feeling weak at the knees just thinking about it cuz I'm a pathetic fangirl. ♥

And then Coby makes the most awesomely retarted noise when Luffy confirms that they're still freinds. ♥

Then they all go inside and Garp goes "So I herd U met UR dad. In Loguetown."

And there's like a good five minutes of Loguetown flashback.

Only to conclude that no one recalls meeting anyone who could've been Luffy's dad.

"Oh, right, that guy." "Wait, THAT'S Luffy's dad?"
I don't think the folks at Toei realized that the handle of Smoker's jitte is still going through Dragon's hand. Or maybe they just didn't care.
