Jun. 18th, 2006 12:00 pmI think I've figured out why my favourite characters usually aren't very popular:
It's because they're usually neither pretty nor broody, which the most popular characters tend to be. Actually, in my opinion many of them are good-looking, but a large part of the fandom would disagree with me on that. It seems that these days a character cannot be "pretty" without having issues or being antisocial for no particular reason. Me, I like characters who can look on the bright side of things and have the guts to be silly.
However, there are exceptions. For example, I wouldn't call Bryan Fury optimistic or particularly sillyto his face. On the other hand, he's not actively disliked by the fandom, either. Er, at least that was the case last time I dared to check the Tekken fandom, which was before T5 came out. The fandom could be exploding with Bryan hate/love and I wouldn't know.
