Well, yeah, the original anime version WAS superior to this movie in pretty much every way. And it's also true that not everything that was wrong was so because of the time issues. I suppose the reason I don't dislike this movie is mostly cause I never expected much of anything at all from it, except possibly some eyecandy (which it did deliver). And of course because I was overjoyed to see "new" material of the Alabasta cast.
I never.. cared for Drum Arc very much. I mean I loved Kureha, and the ending theme they used in the anime during that arc is one of my favourites, but other than that, well, yeah. Though I suppose Drum should translate into a movie much more easily than Alabasta did. For one, it's much shorter, and it doesn't kindasorta stretch over several other arcs like Alabasta does. I'm still not expecting much from it, though. Most OP movies haven't been very good.
